Taylor Swift Trademarks “This Sick Beat”

By February 27, 2016 No Comments

The country-turned-pop singer has trademarked all of the following phrases, and this is likely just the first round:

  • “Party Like It’s 1989”
  • “This Sick Beat”
  • “Cause We Never Go Out Of Style”
  • “Could Show You Incredible Things”
  • “Nice To Meet You. Where You Been?”

While it may sound a bit silly to trademark phrases like “this sick beat” and “nice to meet you. where you been?”, it’s actually a very wise business decision on Swift’s part. Not only is she ensuring that she has the opportunity to make money off her intellectual property (the lyrics), but she is also confirming that no one else will.
